Mission & Vision
Mission, Vision and Core Values
IEC is an educational community that supports and challenges young learners to discover their passions and realize their true potential.
• We provide a rigorous, integrated school curriculum that fosters critical thinking and intellectual curiosity.
• We create and sustain a collaborative teaching and learning environment that explores and refines the ways students learn best.
• We help students to become leaders and life-long learners, strengthening their capacity to contribute positively to their communities.
• We strengthen young learners’ voices in a diverse and culturally rich environment.
• We embrace possibility, promote challenge-seeking, and support risk-taking.
• We encourage girls to develop meaningful relationships with peers and faculty rooted in honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• We graduate courageous, committed and ethical young pupils who take responsibility for their own physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
Being a part of IEC means students are trusted and treated as inherently honorable persons by those around them. In all they do, students learn to display strong character, behave like gentlemen, make solid decisions, and lead others—on the playground, in class, during athletics, at home, in the community. They learn the value of public service and to always contribute to society. They learn how to win with grace and lose with honor. They learn how to resolve conflict. They learn how to be a friend. They learn how to “Be IEC,” wherever they are, whatever they are doing. They learn to live the life of a good human being.
At our school, we believe that it is essential for our children to understand their own history and culture, respect the traditions of other people and places as well. They must also have a firm grasp of language as a means of communication, and be equipped with an education that can be utilized in everyday life. Our School is a diverse community dedicated to educating boys and girls in mind, body, and spirit through particular emphasis upon academic excellence, athletic participation and aesthetic appreciation. IEC seeks to produce men and women of character and integrity who have the skills and ability to make a positive contribution to the communities in which they live and work.
The importance of honor and integrity serves as a foundation of the IEC community, and honor is the most important quality in a person’s character. The successful day-to-day life of the school community depends on the trust and mutual respect fostered by honorable conduct. The IEC Honor Code governs this conduct.
